Argentina is located in the southern cone of South America and has a surface area of 2,766,890 km² (1,078,000 sq mi). It is almost 3.700 kms long from north to south and 1.400 kms wide, from the Andes to the Atlantic Ocean. It is the second largest country in South America and the eighth in the world. Argentina is divided into 23 provinces and one autonomus city known as Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires.
The Andes Mountains Range are the spine of Argentina and the highest mountains outside of the Himalayas. The Aconcagua is the tallest peak in the Andes and reaches 6.960 meters (22.835 ft). It is located in the Mendoza province.
The winter season runs from mid-June to mid-October, yes, we are in the southern hemisphere!
The Argentine Andes offer a wide variety of winter sports locations; with excellent mountains, great snow and everything this country has to offer you are guaranteed an amazing ski experience.

Argentina has seven main ski resorts: Las Leñas and Penitentes in Mendoza; Catedral, Chapelco, Bayo and La Hoya in the argentine Patagonia and Castor in Tierra del Fuego. In the last decade there have been many new developments, most of them from local comunities and ski clubs that decided to open their own snow park to the public. In total they account to more than 20 snowsports areas.
There is a wide variety of terrain that you will find in the country, from steep runs and deep bowls with amazing backcountry areas to more relaxed and family oriented resorts. Over the tree line and on the tree line, lingering whites to amazing forests. There is also nordic skiing centres in Tierra del Fuego and Santa Cruz Province in the deep patagonic south where the season runs longer than most of the ski fields in the world due to its closeness to the Antarctic.

The easiest way to get to argentine ski resorts is to fly to Buenos Aires or Santiago de Chile and from there connect with a local airline or bus to your final destination.
